Non-Executive Director

Michael is the non-executive Chairman of Lesego Platinum. He holds a L.L.M degree from the University of California at Berkeley after graduated from Peking University with a dual Bachelor degree in law and economics.

Michael currently serves as the CEO of Heaven-Sent Capital Beijing, previously he was the general counsel of Heaven-Sent Capital Management Group ('HSC'). He has considerable experience in outbound investment and Mergers & Acquisitions. Prior to joining HSC, Mr. ZHANG was a lawyer at Fangda Partners, a leading PRC law firm, and before that, he worked at the Beijing office of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.

Michael is admitted to practice law in both New York State, USA and People's Republic of China.

Acting CEO

Xining Xin was appointed as Chief Technical Officer and Project Development Director of Lesego in July 2020.

Xining has more than 35 years of experience in mining operation and project development, having spent most of his career in one of China’s largest mining company Jin Chuan Group. During his time in Jinchuan, Xining obtained extensive international experiences by leading Jinchuan’s overseas projects in Zambia, Australia, Finland, Mexico, and South Africa. He served as the Chief Engineer and Project Director for the Bakubung platinum mine project owned by Jinchuan Group.

Xining Xin holds a Bsc in mining engineering from Xi’an Institute of Mining and Metallurgy.


Phillip Spencer

Phillip Spencer joined Lesego and the Heaven Sent Group in April 2018 and was appointed as Financial Director in August 2018. He serves as an executive director of the company. He has 15 years of mining and finance experience and has held the role of Chief Financial Officer at Gold One Group Limited and was appointed as a partner at KPMG. Phillip is responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial, treasury and commercial services with a specific focus on cost management and business optimisation. Phillip holds a South Africa Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) designation with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).


Richard Montjoie

Project Manager

Richard Montjoie serves as Project Manager for the Lesego Project. He holds a M.Sc. in Economic Geology from the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, and is fellow of the Geological Society of South Africa (GSSA) and a member for the Society of Economic Geologists, and a registered member of the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).

Richard has over 14 years' experience in mineral project development globally. Richard has been involved in several brownfield and greenfield mineral exploration programs in South Africa and Northern Canada, including various Ni-PGE, diamond, coal, coal bed methane and gold exploration and mining projects. Richard provides sound geoscientific and technical input in development planning to ensure effective data acquisition, management and project execution.

Richard has been involved in the Lesego project since its inception back in 2005, and manages various facets of the project, including the technical, social, licencing and corporate aspects.

Richard successfully acted as Project Manager for defining the 39 Moz platinum feasibility study, advancing the project from exploration stage to a completed bankable feasibility study, with proven and probable reserves, on time and under budget.


Peter Sebake

Stakeholder Engagement Manager

Peter Sebake heads up the Lesego Corporate Social Investment portfolio, and is co-founder and executive chairman of Kodumela Bokamoso Youth Development which was founded in 2009 and focuses on developing young people through education.

Peter has been involved in mentoring, counselling, motivating and teaching young people for more than 17 years. He has been working with Lesego Platinum since 2012 as Stakeholder Engagement Officer dealing with Mphahlele, Tau Mankotsana and Baroka ba Nkwana communities and with the Department of Mineral Resources and other government departments and stakeholders.

Peter grew up in the rural area of De Vrede village around Blouberg Municipality, Limpopo. Peter is passionate about rural community development and seeing communities improved and is gifted at creating long term positive and lasting relationships with communities.
